West Ham United's bronze statue paying tribute to Bobby Moore, Sir Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters, and the Club's 1965 European Cup Winners' Cup victory was about two years in the making.

Designing the statue, we set out to find the perfect reference. From the start, the team included invaluable consultations with Geoff Hurst himself, Kathy Peters (Martin's wife) and our good friend, Bobby's daughter, Roberta Moore, a contemporary art curator in her own right.

The statue was unveiled at London Stadium just before West Ham's European tour competing in the Europa League in the 2021/22 Season.

The custom font we designed for West Ham United was used for the concrete surround. Good to see the font set in stone. Martin Peter's ashes are laid to rest in the plinth of the statue.

Everything was considered, from how the players wore their shin pads and laced their boots to the kit crest and shirt number details.

Chief sculptor Ian Lander and his team at MDM did a fantastic job creating the larger-than-life statue to perfect scale and getting all the player’s characteristics bang on.
